Leadership Training for You

Team Leader Masterclass

Online Leadership Training

Becoming a great leader is a process, not an event.

Do you lead a team or manage a group at work? Then you’ll know that it’s not an easy thing to do.

The Challenges of Leadership

Many team leaders struggle to manage egos, clashing personalities and unmotivated individuals, and then get the blame when their group becomes dysfunctional.

But your role at work could be very different:

•    Rather than bouncing between conflicts and crises, you could gain the skills required to take control of your group.

•    Rather than accepting the blame and the negative impact on your reputation, you could use your role as team leader to demonstrate your thoughtful, controlled leadership style.

•    Rather than being bypassed for promotion because of your mismanaged group, you could retake the reins and get disruptive team-members to become significant contributors to your collective triumphs.

•    Rather than being identified as the out-of-his-depth head of a defective group, you could become known as the leader of the team that can rescue failing projects.

Leadership Skills Can be Developed

It’s said that leaders are born, not made. But it’s just not true. While it is true that some people are born with the communication skills that make them natural leaders, everyone else can learn those skills.

Learning to be a great leader is within everyone’s reach. And it’s worth noting that in difficult economic times a team leader who is able to marshal groups into high-performing units is never going to be at the top of the list when an organisation starts ‘downsizing’ .

Learning Leadership: My Leadership Credentials

I learnt leadership skills the hard way: gradually, and by (occasionally) painful experience.

When I first joined the Royal Marines as a Junior Officer, I couldn’t understand why my subordinates gave me so little respect, or why we struggled to get things done. Even when I knew exactly what was going wrong, I didn’t know how to fix it, or how to get different results.

I was lucky enough to meet a great mentor, who began teaching me how to get results from my team.

The simple lessons he shared with me changed the way our team functioned. We began to ‘gel’. We worked together as a cohesive group, and achieved impressive results. Very quickly our work was noted by my superiors.

Within months I was promoted to lead a group in overseas operations.

New Leadership Challenges

My next role at the management consulting firm McKinsey and Company provided fresh challenges. Leading diverse groups in multiple locations sometimes felt completely impossible. Why weren’t they responding to me? The conflicting agendas and priorities within these groups made them seem impossible to work with.

Luckily I had some highly capable and experienced managers who shared their own tricks for getting people to work together. I had to step beyond my comfort zone and try new things with my groups. But I did, and we all benefited.

As a result of my new methods, I was able to lead a change process on one of the world’s largest agricultural estates in Indonesia, which garnered a 30% increase in production. The increase was a result of the entire team pulling together toward a common goal – but from experience I know that groups only achieve great things when their leader is in total control.

Team Leader Masterclass: The Course

The Team Leader Masterclass is designed for anyone who manages people. Whether that involves organising a small team of administrators or a squadron of marines, you will benefit from the clear lessons in this course.

Delivered in 6 modules over a 6-month period, the course revolves around 3 central themes:

1. You

Know Your Purpose and So Will Your Team

One of the most important lessons I’ve learnt is that leaders get results from groups when they are sure of their purpose and confident in their approach. By learning how to be a confident leader, you can get your team to respect your judgement and work with you, rather than resisting or actively scheming against you.

In the pursuit of a calmer, more purposeful you, we’ll tackle:

•    Work/life balance
•    Managing conflict
•    Time management
•    The role of a leader
•    Stress management
•    Focus and alignment
•    Personal finance basics
•    Goal and objective setting
•    Giving appraisals effectively
•    Planning and work allocation
•    Team building and motivating
•    Personal power and influence
•    What is a high performing team
•    Personal development program
•    Personal vision, direction and motivation

2. Your Team

Getting Results from Disjointed Teams

As we resolve the issues that affect your confidence and ability to give clear direction to your team, we’ll also start to look at how people work together in groups and the reasons for dysfunction:

•    Coaching training
•    Delegation that works
•    Team problem solving
•    Facilitation of meetings
•    Giving great feedback
•    Having difficult conversations
•    Presentation skills masterclass
•    Interpersonal skills development
•    Team member roles and responsibilities
•    Team dynamics – mindsets and behaviours
•    Team alignment - vision, mission, goals and strategy

3. Your System

Solid Systems: the Foundations of Group Success

The third component to leadership is systems. We all work with and within systems; understanding them and using them to your team’s advantage is the secret to significant success.

In the 6 modules of the Team Leadership Masterclass we’ll address:

•    Change management
•    Performance management
•    Communications strategies
•    Building a support network
•    Influencing with integrity
•    Skill and capability building
•    Quality management and lean thinking
•    Understanding organisational politics
•    Organisational vision, mission and strategy

Course Format

Team Leader Masterclass is a 6 month online learning program. During 50 hours of audio and video, I teach you the management and leadership lessons I learnt from military service, knowledgeable mentors and painful experience. These are the same lessons I teach to senior managers in major corporations worldwide.
Team Leader Masterclass contains specially-recorded sessions which act as one-to-one coaching sessions. These are not just recordings of workshops.

Each session is designed to deliver lessons that you can learn quickly and implement immediately.

Rather than provide you with long-winded theory and academic fluff, every minute of each video and audio file is designed to give you the skills to make a difference at work. Rather than asking you to read long texts about management theories or the psychology behind group dynamics, Team Leadership Masterclass delivers practical tips that you can implement tomorrow.

Leading people and managing groups isn’t impossible – you just need to get beyond theoretical concepts and adopt functional methods for managing and leading.

How Much Time Do I Need to Commit?

Between 1-2 hours per week. This will be time spent watching coaching sessions on video and completing exercises.

Most of the exercises will simply replace the activities that you do with your team now.

Team Leader Masterclass doesn’t load you with tasks to complete; it’s designed for busy people who want to change now.

What Makes the Team Leader Masterclass Different?

Have you ever been on a management or leadership development course? You may have experienced a learning program that is built around theory and academic studies, without ever relating the principles back to real-world examples.

The result is training courses that are very interesting but technically useless – failing to provide you with the tools you need to make changes.

The Team Leader Masterclass is vastly different, and is practical, experiential and results oriented – leading you to new heights every month. Ultimately, that is what makes the program so distinctive – It delivers real positive changes in your life, quickly.

Most importantly, in these tough economic times, the Team Leader Masterclass is extremely cost effective. By paying monthly, you can spread the cost of learning across a 6 month period. Unlike other training courses, you can stop the course at any point. Cancellation is free and available to anyone who feels that the course is not benefiting them.

The Small Price of Valuable Skills

Team Leader Masterclass is a 6 month course that costs just £69.00 per month. For this fee you get:
